On February 25, 2011, KJI organized trainings within the module 11, on the topic “Juvenile Justice Code”.

Some of the main objectives of this training were that judges and prosecutors that work in the juvenile field during their practical work will be able to:

  • To justify the reasons for determining juvenile detention,
  • To recognize the alternative measures in particular to identify cases of mediation and to assess the legal conditions for the implementation of the mediation procedure.

The issues that were addressed in this training were: Juvenile detention (the flow of the proceedings, decision taking, the duration of the detention, juvenile judge authorization during the length of the detention proceedings), mediation (legal basis, the flow of the proceedings) as well the novelties of the Juvenile Justice Code.
The beneficiaries of this training besides judges and prosecutors for juveniles, there were also probation officers, police officers and officials from social welfare centers.
