CLEP & TPP Training: “European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms”

From June 3-4, 2012, KJI in cooperation with the Twinning Program (EU-LER) conducted a two-day training on the topic: “European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms”.

As a result of this training participants will be able to:
• Understand the importance of ECHR and its influence in the national case-law;
• Know the competence and the jurisdiction of the Strasbourg Court;
• Familiarize themselves with admissibility or inadmissibility elements of a request before the Strasbourg Court; 
• Understand the effect of the decisions taken by the member states of the Council of Europe and ratifying of the ECHR. 

During the training, explanations were given concerning the organization of the Strasbourg Court, the composition of the panel, the relevant deadlines when making a request before the court, as well as the difference between the European Council and Council of Europe. Also, by working in groups and given tasks by the trainers, participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in the identification of violations of rights guaranteed by the ECHR, with particular emphasis on Article 5 and 6 of this Convention.

Beneficiaries of this training were judges and professional associates from all the regions of Kosovo.
