In the context of the preparations and implementation of the training program from the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Kosovo, KJI has developed a concrete working plan which foresees the organization of several activities in support of the judges and prosecutors who during their work in practice face the implementation of the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure which contain numerous novelties.
Trainings organized by KJI in the first months of 2013 have been conducted with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina aiming the notification of judges and prosecutors with novelties of the CCPK as well as the identification of practical problems during the implementation of the CCPK. KJI now entered the phase of preparation of concrete recommendations for the implementation of the provisions which have been identified as new and differ a lot from the previous provisions of former Code of Criminal Procedure.
Within its activities, KJI in cooperation and direct support from the President of the Supreme Court and the State Chief Prosecutor have organized several meetings with the working group to identify the novelties of the CCPK. The next meeting was held on March 16-17, 2013, where members of the working group presented the novelties of the CCPK according to chapters which were assigned in the previous meetings. Besides the novelties of the CCPK there were also presented the recommendations for the implementation of these provisions and there were discussions regarding the proposed recommendations.
Participants in this conference were members of the working group such as judges and prosecutors, professors from the Law Faculty of the UP, KJI and KPC officials as well as judges and prosecutors from EULEX.
