Role and responsibilities of mentors in the third stage of ITP

On December 8 2014, the KJI supported by UNDP conducted training for mentors of the candidates for judges and prosecutors of the Initial Training Program – 5th generation.

Purpose of this training was to make more comprehensive approach of the mentors of the 3rd stage of training for candidates for judges and prosecutors, as well as develop practical skills and highest ethical standards for the judges’ and prosecutors’ work, based on the Practical Trainings Handbook for mentors of the third stage.

This training discussed on role and responsibilities of mentors during the practical training of ITP, with particular emphasis on support and motivation that mentors shall provide to candidates in order for them to achieve the best in their work.

It also elaborated on professional matters that candidates shall be acquainted with the purpose of application during their work after appointment, as well as other practical issues of interest for the candidates. Two processes of this stage that were distinguished by trainers were: Mentors Working Plan that has to be adjusted with duration of the practical stage and assessment of the candidate’s quality, social competence and candidate’s autonomy which is done at the end of practical training.
