War crimes

On December 11–12, 2025, the Academy of Justice, in cooperation with the Humanitarian Rights Fund, is conducting a training on war crimes within the framework of the Continuous Training Program.

The training is delivered by Mr. Yonko Grozev, Judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR); Mr. Valon Kurtaj, Judge at the Court of Appeals – Special Department; and Mr. Amer Alija, attorney at the Humanitarian Rights Fund.

The purpose of this training is to enhance participants’ knowledge regarding the legal framework on war crimes, including trials in absentia, relevant procedural standards, and the application of Articles 5 and 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The methodology includes theoretical lectures combined with practical, case-based exercises.

Beneficiaries of the training include judges of the Court of Appeals and basic courts, prosecutors of the Special Prosecution, professional associates of the SPRK, and officials of the Kosovo Police.
