On June 2nd, KJI in cooperation with the Council of Europe conducted the conference on the topic of “Freedom of expression and Article 10 of the European Conventions of Human Rights”.
Focus of this training was elaboration of the freedom of expression in the context of local legislation, the ECHR and the ECtHR case law. In this scope, the right to freedom of expression was analyzed, which is guaranteed by constitution and other legal acts on one hand, and obligation and responsibilities in practicing this freedom.
International experts presented the characteristics, developments and challenges of the European Court of Human Rights jurisprudence in relation to Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. It was discussed in particular about the Council of Europe standards pertaining to the freedom of expression and local perspective in their implementation.
Within the scope of national judicial practice, the local experts elaborated on application of Article 10 and media related cases in Kosovo.
Participants at this conference were judges and prosecutors from all instances as well as media representatives in Kosovo.
