Internship program of the candidate from Magistrate School of France

Based on the memorandum of cooperation of Kosovo Judicial Institute with the Magistrate School of France – ENM, from 22 February to 11 March 2016, a candidate for judge from this school is staying in Kosovo on internship program (practical training program)

The objective of this is program is to provide knowledge to the ENM candidate on the foreign system of justice which includes:

  • Training on prosecution, investigation and adjudication of criminal offenses, execution of punishments and family judicial matters, as well as contract and responsibilities;
  • Understanding international dimension of justice (support in cooperation and comparative research);
  • Understanding foreign straining systems for judges;

KJI prepared the agenda for this internship program which contains the practical program:

  • One week in prosecution office under the supervision of one prosecutor;  
  • One week in court, under the supervision of a criminal judge;
  • One week in court, under supervision of a civil judge;
  • Meetings with other institutions of Kosovo related to work of courts and prosecution offices;  

During his stay in Kosovo, the candidate was informed in general about functioning of the judicial and prosecutorial system, responsibilities and programs developed by KJI.

In February the candidate has carried the practice in the prosecution office, where closely followed the investigation procedure, whereas, in court, the judge for criminal matters informed the candidate about judicial system, judicial hearing as well as execution of punishments in Kosovo.

While regarding other institutions, where held meetings with Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Victims Advocacy and Assistance Office, Anti-Corruption Agency, Constitutional Court of Kosovo and Kosovo Probation Service.

During the meetings held with abovementioned institutions, the candidate had the opportunity get more familiarized with the Kosovo prosecutorial system, competencies, recruitment system and evaluation of the prosecutor’s performance, the competencies of the Victims Advocacy and Assistance Office, the role of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the role of the Constitutional Court in relation to the ordinary courts and the work done by Kosovo Probation Service in the execution of alternative punishments.

This program will continue its implementation also during March.
