Roundtable Discussion: Trafficking in Persons, KJI + US Department of Justice

On 31 March, 01 April 2009, Kosovo Judicial Institute in close cooperation with U.S Department of Justice, respectively the Embassy in Prishtina, conducted the two-day training under the topic: “Trafficking in Persons”.

The issues that were treated during the aforementioned training were focused on practical cases relating the labor servitude and sex trafficking from the initiation of the investigation up to the final judgment. The purpose of this training was providing of effective investigative techniques, the importance for creating a Task Force and treatment of the concrete relationship between the police and prosecutors, including the use of confidential informants and cooperative witnesses. A special attention was paid to the inter-institutional cooperation in combating this phenomenon as well as the appropriate approach in the rehabilitation of victims of trafficking.

The beneficiaries of the respective event were: judges, prosecutors and police officers of the Republic of Kosovo.
