Training Program – visit / Juvenile Justice Ankara/Istanbul – Republic of Turkey

Based on the perspective of cooperation between the Kosovo Judicial Institute and the Justice Academy of Turkey, commenced the implementation of the training program and visits in the field of Juvenile Justice. This program will be held from March 3 to 8 and will take place in Ankara and Istanbul Turkey.
The implementation of this program aims to exchange experiences regarding the legal structure within the juvenile justice and discussion of ideas and methodologies for capacity building of the judiciary in both countries. 


Within this program are planed a series of presentations and discussions on practical cases and exchange of experiences in order to overcome the identified challenges in the field of juvenile justice.
Participants in this visit were informed with the Turkish judicial system and in particular with children’s justice system. The focus of the presentations was the access and the contribution of Turkey's Supreme Court on Juvenile Justice. One of the topics that discussed was the development of the curricula and training method in the Justice Academy of Turkey and the possibility of the application of those methods by the KJI trainers. 


The visit to the Juvenile Court in Ankara allowed participants to closely get acquainted with case management and the role and importance of the experts in this court. Also of particular importance were the visits to the Juvenile Detention Center, Rehabilitation Youth Centre and the Turkish Probation Service where KJI trainers had the opportunity to see the supervision of rehabilitation issues of children and the conditions that these institutions provide. 


Beneficiaries of this program are KJI trainers (judges and prosecutors) in the field of juvenile justice and KJI Director and staff. 
The financial support of the program is carried out by the Justice Academy of the Republic of Turkey and UNICEF.
