Mediation and restorative justice

On October 8th 2014, the KJI I cooperation with USAID Contract Law Enforcement Program (CLE) conducted a regional training on “Mediation and restorative justice”.

This training was organized with the aim of advancing the participant’s knowledge related to identification of conditions for applying mediation and correct interpretation of mediation agreement provisions.

This training elaborated the applicable legislation, mediation procedure, the agreement and its content, role of the court- prosecution for referral, acknowledgment and enforcement of the mediation agreements and the mediator’s responsibilities.

A particular attention was dedicated to relation between mediation and other mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution, mediation rules, legal consequences for any kind of obligation for mediation.

The training was delivered in interactive form where the participants had the possibility to discuss on the problems they face in the practical work.

This training was dedicated for judges and prosecutors from Prishtina and Mitrovica region and will continue to be delivered in other regions of Kosovo as well.
