Trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling

On April 7th 2015, Kosovo Judicial Institute within CTP conducted training on “Trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling”.

Purpose of this training was increase of professional capacities in judiciary so that judges and prosecutors increase their efficiency and effectiveness in their fight against crime perpetrators of human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

The training elaborated on legal framework of local and international instance that regulate this area, criminal offences of human trafficking and migrant smuggling, and identification of main elements of criminal offences.

Discussions raised the matter of distinctions and similarities between trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling as well as ways for preventing these crimes which are increasing.

The training was delivered in interactive method through discussions about challenges and problems that participants face in court practice. In the last part of the training, participants were divided in working groups, working on two practical cases presented by the trainers.

Beneficiaries of this training were judges and prosecutors of basic courts and prosecution offices.
