Trademarks

On June 26th 2015, Kosovo Judicial Institute in cooperation with the EU funded Project implemented by EUIPR conducted a two-days training on the topic of “Trademarks”.

Purpose of this training is to extend the judges knowledge related to trademarks, the signs that can be protected as trademarks as well as challenges that occur in implementing legislation regulating this area.

Initially the judges in this training were acquainted with the work and challenges of the Intellectual property Agency – MTI, registration procedures and rejection for registering trademarks, duration of the protection and the system of intellectual property in Kosovo in general.

This training also elaborated on national and international legislation for trademarks, cases of violation of trademarks, legal concept and factors for confusion likelihood of the relevant public, as the procedure that takes place within the court for solving these cases.

Participants were divided in groups and worked on two practical cases of objection of trademarks and estimation of the likelihood for confusion.

Beneficiaries of this training were judges of the Basic Court of Prishtina – Administrative department and officials of the Intellectual property Agency – MTI.
