Introduction of the Handbook on Preventing Ill-Treatment and Combating Impunity

Today, 08 April 2021, the Academy of Justice, in continuation of the cooperation with the Council of Europe on strengthening the institutions in Kosovo in the fight against torture, ill-treatment and other denigrating treatment, has presented the prepared manual on Preventing Ill-Treatment and Combating Impunity. This manual, in addition to serving judges and prosecutors in their daily work, will also serve as a didactic material for Trainers engaged in this field.

The purpose of this meeting was to present the manual and further coordinate joint activities between the Academy and the EC. During the meeting was expressed the need to build professional capacity in this area, as a new topic, not sufficiently addressed, as well as the preparation of a professional and qualified staff of trainers.

The Academy of Justice and the EC agreed to continue further cooperation and to make the necessary preparations to initially organize a (1) Training of Trainers in the second half of June 2021.

Participants in this meeting were:  

Ms. Melihate Rama – Head of Continuous Training Program in A;

Ms. Elena Jovanovska-Brezoska – Program Coordinator (national division for application of human rights);

Ms. Ivana Roagna – Legal Expert from CE;

Mr. Alban Muriqi – National Expert and,

Ms. Ljubisa Bascarevic – Senior Official of the Project: “Strengthening Institutions of Kosovo in Fight against Torture, ill-treatment and Combating impunity.
