KJI on July 1 and July 2, 2013 conducted two roundtable discussions with two different groups of participants, on the topic “Mediation in civil matters”.
The main purpose of these roundtables was the enhancement of knowledge in the field of practical application of mediation as an effective method for resolving of conflicts.
During this workshop were discussed issues related to the legal nature of mediation, goals and methods of mediation in civil cases, the communication strategy in judicial cases, communication rules in the court and mediation, and the advantages of mediation and cases not suitable for mediation. Extensively it was discussed the relationship between mediation and other mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution, international and national legal provisions for mediation, the mediation agreement, its legal effects and the role and the responsibility of intermediaries.
Beneficiaries of the trainings were judges of general-departmental civil divisions from all basic courts and intermediaries from all of Mediation Centers in Kosovo.
