Training of Trainers - Prevention of Torture - Article III of the Istanbul Convention

Today, 08 September 2021, the Academy of Justice, in cooperation with the Council of Europe office in Prishtina, is conducting a Training of Trainers on: "Prevention of Torture - Article III of the Istanbul Convention".

This training comes as a result of successive meetings, through which a manual and resource training material for judges and prosecutors in combating and preventing Torture has been established.

The main purpose of the prepared manual is to serve as a source for trainers, when planning and conducting interactive sessions focused on victims of torture.

The Training of Trainers which will last 3 days, from 08 September 2021 to 10 September 2021, will address the methods of torture, its legal meaning in the nationally and internationally, the physical effect of torture, etc.

Interpretations of physical evidence, psychological effects of torture, forensic findings, challenges in assessing the reliability of evidence, secondary trauma will also be discussed.

The training is conducted in a hybrid way, with present participants and trainers through the ZOOM platform, always respecting all measures provided by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Ministry of Health, about hygiene, distance and space in order of protection from the COVID-19 virus.

Beneficiaries of the training are: Judges from the Basic Courts, Prosecutors from the Appellate and Basic Prosecution Offices as well as Police officers.
