Mediation and Restorative Justice

On December 3rd 2014, Kosovo Judicial Institute in cooperation with the USAID Contract Law Enforcement Program organized regional training on “Mediation and Restorative Justice”.

Main training objectives were to clarify for participants the terms for application of mediation, apply competencies foreseen by law on mediation, interprete correctly provisions on mediation agreement, contribute on increase of their professional capacities, as well as assist on unification of judicial practice for mediation.

This training elaborated on the following items like, the applicable legislation, mediation procedure, mediation agreement and its content, role of the court – prosecution to referral, recognition and execution of mediation agreements, mediator’s role, etc.

Also, it was discussed on relation between mediation and other mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution.

The training was conducted in interactive method where the participants could discuss with trainers on issues they face in judicial practice.

Beneficiaries were judges and prosecutors of Prizren region.
