Acknowledgment and denial of paternity/ maternity

On December 8th 2014, Kosovo Judicial Institute organized training for judges to discuss on “Acknowledgment and denial of paternity/ maternity”.

Goal of this training was to contribute on resolution of disputes related to acknowledgment and denial of paternity/ maternity, better acquaintance with these procedures so that they conclude within the reasonable timeline and enable children as a special protection category appropriate judicial protection, analyze which evidence are important and way of issuing them in the facts proving stage which relates to acknowledgment and denial of maternity or paternity. 

This training session elaborated issues related to acknowledgment and denial of paternity/ maternity, from the perspective of applying legal provisions into force, Family Law in Kosovo as a basic law, and voluntary acknowledgment of maternity and paternity, judicial procedure, legal principle-presumption, court procedure and court competence, child legitimacy, hereditary rights and proves for acknowledging and denial of paternity/ maternity.

This training was delivered using combined methods of explanation, including theoretical and practical explanations, using practical examples, where judges discussed and raised questions related to issues they face in court practice.

Beneficiaries of this training were judges of Basic Courts and of the Appeals Court.
