Cross-border confiscation of assets

From 8 to 9 September 2016, KJI in cooperation with the "International Legal Cooperation in Criminal Justice" financed by the EU and implemented by the Western Balkan Prosecutors' Network, conducted a workshop on the topic "Cross-border confiscation of assets”.

Issues that were treated during the workshop were related with the specifics of mutual judicial assistance and with respect to modern methods of assessment in the context of cross-border organized crime and asset recovery by undertaking complex inter-actions in the confiscation of revenues acquired by crime. At the same time, it was treated and demonstrated the structure and drafting of requests for cross-border freezing of asset and confiscation of assets acquired by criminal offense with international element.

The methodology applied was combined with theoretical explanations and interactive discussions and working in groups of participants. 

The beneficiaries of these trainings were judges and prosecutors of basic level, investigative police, customs officials, officials from the Financial Intelligence Unit from all regions in Kosovo.
