On June 5 and 6 in Strasbourg, France, was held the conference on the topic: "Meeting of National Institutions for the Training of Judges and Prosecutors and of the Chamber of Advocates." This conference was supported by the Council of Europe, within the project "2012 HELP Network" whose purpose is to educate legal professionals about human rights.
The objectives of the conference were:
• Exchange of experiences between National Training Institutions and the Chamber of Advocates on current practices of trainings for human rights and the identification of common issues, differences and common interest;
• Identify urgent needs for training of judges, prosecutors and lawyers from 47 member states and the development of the training curriculum "HELP”;
• Better understanding of the objectives of the HELP program and how this program can serve in better satisfying the needs for the training of legal professionals in their daily work, for a long-term period.
Among the topics of the conference program were: the importance of the promotion of legal education on human rights in the long-term context for the European Court of Human Rights, International Human Rights Standards and their application by national courts, best practices in trainings on human rights and the experience of international tribunals, the role and need for training- guidance of the supreme court and constitutional judges, the role of the Chamber of Advocates in the application of the ECHR at the local level and the training of lawyers on the admissibility criteria in the ECHR, Including training curricula in the initial training and continuous training for lawyers and the sustainability of training programs.
Kosovo Judicial Institute was represented at this conference by the program coordinator Lumnije Krasniqi.
Participants of the conference were representatives of training institutions for judges and prosecutors as well the chamber of advocates, from 47 member states of the Council of Europe.
