Regional Conference of the Western Balkans Training Institutions

On June 7-8 2018, Executive Director of the Academy of Justice participated in the Regional Judicial Training Institutions Conference of the Western Balkans that was organized by the regional Cooperation Council (RCC), on the “Role of judicial training in appointment and practice of the judges or prosecutors profession”, which took place in Podgorica of Montenegro.

Purpose of this conference was cooperation between judicial training institutions and the Judicial Council in the judicial training process, terms of reference for conducting a study on minimal common standards of the judicial training process, the Judicial Training program of 2019-2021.

This conference discussed on the following: Importance of the training institutions and Judicial Councils in the procedure for appointment of judges, role of the initial training and the continuous training in the process of appointment, the following steps in the process of judicial training institutions of the Western Balkans. Also, Representatives of the European Commission presented their views on driving the process of cooperation and provided information for the participants on the EC activities and plans in the area of judicial training.

Participants in this conference were representatives of the judicial training institutions, representatives of the Judicial Councils of Western Balkans, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
