Roundtable Discussion (Criminal Law) - Testimony of Victim Witnesses, KJI + US Department of Justice

On 14-15 April 2009, the Kosovo Judicial Institute in cooperation with the U.S Department of Justice conducted the roundtable discussion under the topic: “Advocating for Victims”.

The subjects hat were treated during the aforementioned session focused on the rights and services of the victims of crime, concretely: victim protection from the accused, briefing  of the victim about the court proceedings, consultation with the public prosecutor and the judge, compensation and respecting of victim’s dignity. The purpose of this training was the development of advocacy skills, providing of effective protection to the victims and establishment of functional laws. In addition to, during this session was also treated the role of the law enforcement authorities and inter-institutional cooperation.

The beneficiaries of the respective training were: judges, prosecutors, professional associates, police officers and the representatives of organizations and institutions dealing with victim advocacy.
