On 12 March 2013, KJI conducted a roundtable on the topic “Adoption”. The main purpose of this roundtable was to advance the knowledge of the judges on the adoption as one of the specific forms of protection of children without parental care.
During this workshop were addressed issues related to the establishment of the adoption procedure, the procedure for the cancellation of adoption and its termination as well as international standards contained in international conventions. There were also discussed issues related to the relationship of adoption, including adoption connection with a foreign element and rigorous procedures that should be followed under the supervision of the court. This roundtable was followed by an interactive debate among participants and experts regarding the proper implementation of the legal provisions in this field.
The beneficiaries of this roundtable were judges of the General Department - Civil Division of the Court of Appeal and the general departments of Basic Courts as well as professional officials of Social Work Centers from all regions of Kosovo.
