Training of Trainers - Prevention of Torture - Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights

Today, 03 October 2021, the Academy of Justice in cooperation with the office of the Council of Europe in Prishtina, is conducting a Training of Trainers on: "Prevention of Torture - Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights".

This training comes as a result of a preliminary training which results in the need of developing even a more specific training on Article III of the Istanbul Convention.

The Training of Trainers which will last 4 days, from 03 October 2021 to 06 October 2021, will address the main concepts of Article 3 of the ECHR and Article 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. The relacion between Article 3 and Article 8 of the ECHR will also be analyzed, followed by Malcome Knowls's andragogy and theories.

On the second day, the forms of ill-treatment in prison, the obligations and procedures arising from Article 3 of the ECHR, as well as the case law in Kosovo will be addressed.

Days III and IV will be a summary of the first two days, followed by practical cases and simulations by participants divided into groups by the trainer Mrs. Ivana Roagna and local expert Mr. Alban Muriqi.

The training is being conducted physically, always respecting all the measures provided by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Ministry of Health, on the hygiene, distance, space in order to protect against the COVID-19 virus.

Beneficiaries of the training are: Judges from the Basic Courts, Prosecutors from the Appellate and Basic Prosecution Offices, officials from the Office of the People's Advocate and Police Investigators.
