Module: ECHR; Session eight: European Convention for Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms - Protection of journalists and whistleblowers

On September 24, 2024, Academy of Justice within the Initial Training Program for the newly appointed judges of the twelfth generation, conducted the theoretical training from the ECHR module that is delivered by the trainer Mrs. Habibe Salihu, Prosecutor at the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

This session addressed the following: local legislation related to the right to information, the Law on the Protection of Journalists and Whistleblowers, reporting and disclosure in the public interest is protected when it is justified, and judicial protection of journalists and whistleblowers.

The training methodology is interactive discussions and practical cases method.

Beneficiaries of the training are 30 newly appointed judges including one member from the Bosnian community, generation XII 2024-2025.
