Sub-module: Juvenile Justice Code; Fourth session: General provisions that characterize the criminal procedure against minors

On January 25, 2023, Academy of Justice within the Initial Training Program for the second group of newly appointed judges of the ninth generation, conducted the theoretical training under the "Juvenile Justice Code" module, which is being carried out by trainer Mrs. Nesrin Lushta, judge at the Supreme Court.

During this session, the following were addressed: the age of criminal responsibility, the urgency of the procedure and the short deadlines, no trial in absence of the minor, the principle of confidentiality and opportunity, the best interest of the minor, deprivation of liberty as a last resort and the characteristics of detention, the subject and territorial jurisdiction of the courts, the division and consolidation of criminal proceedings, the powers of the prosecutor, the juvenile judge and the juvenile courts/panels.

The training methodology is implemented with practical cases and the interactive discussions method.

Beneficiaries of the training are 18 newly appointed judges, including one member of the Bosnian community.
