Visit of the EU Ambassador to the Academy of Justice
The Ambassador of the European Union in Kosovo, Mr. Aivo Orav paid a visit to the Academy of Justice where he had the opportunity to meet new judges that are attending the Initial Training. During the meeting the Ambassador highlighted the importance of the role of newly appointed judges for promoting the rule of law, and the EU commitment for integrating Kosovo in the European structures, particularly in the context of the new developments. He wished successful endeavors to new judges, emphasizing their crucial role for advancing Kosovo in the road to EU accession.
The Ambassador also emphasized the EU dedication for supporting the legal reforms and strengthening the government of Kosovo, focusing on the importance of the transparency and independence in the judicial process.
Director of the Academy of Justice expressed gratitude for the EU support in increasing the training capacities in the Academy of Justice and promotion of the European standards within the justice system in Kosovo.
The meeting also included a questions session for the new judges which focused on evaluation of the progress in the Kosovo’s judiciary, and he ongoing challenges like corruption and case management.
At the conclusion, the Ambassador greeted the new judges wishing them a successful career and once again highlighted the importance of decision making and independence of the judiciary as the main points upon which the Kosovo public trust on the justice system increases.
