Trial in absentia

April 5 2024, Academy of Justice in cooperation with the US-DOJ/ OPDAT within its Continuous Training Program is conducting the training on the trial in absentia.

Trainers engaged for this activity are Mr. Agim Maliqi judge – Head of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Kosovo, Mr. Dražen Tripal judge - Head of the Criminal Division in the Supreme Court of Croatia, and Mr. Atdhe Dema Prosecutors in the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo.

Purpose of this training is to extend the participants knowledge on the legal terms for conducting the trial in absentia, presence of the defendant in the main hearing, the hearing session for establishing the absence of the defendant and conducting the trial in absentia.

Training methodology iso f a combined character with theoretical explanations and interactive discussions on practical cases.

Beneficiaries of this training are judges from the Supreme Court, judges from the Basic Courts – Special Department, Prosecutors from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, Prosecutors from the Appeals Prosecution, SPRK, Basic Prosecution Offices and Professional Associates.
