Academy of Justice Begins Consultations for 2027 Training Program
As part of the training needs assessment for the 2027 Training Program, the Academy of Justice has launched a series of consultative meetings with courts and prosecutors’ offices across the country, scheduled for 15–19 June 2026.
On 15 June, the Executive Director of the Academy of Justice, together with senior staff from the Training Program Department, met with representatives of the Basic Court in Pristina and the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina to identify priorities and challenges for next year’s training activities.
In discussions with the President of the Basic Court, Mr. Ngadhnjim Arrni, organizational challenges in training delivery and identified priority areas for capacity building were addressed. Special focus was placed on issues within the jurisdiction of the Special Department, including organized crime, corruption, money laundering, and trials in absentia. It was agreed that further meetings with department heads will be held to specify additional topics for inclusion in the program.
The meeting with Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mr. Arianit Salihu and Administrator Ms. Feride Isufi highlighted institutional challenges, particularly the limited number of prosecutors and the need to strengthen professional capacities. Training priorities identified included cybercrime, online fraud, offenses against official duty, protection of human rights in criminal proceedings, seizure and confiscation procedures, money laundering, and the use of special investigative measures.
Across both meetings, participants emphasized that these areas remain pressing challenges in judicial and prosecutorial practice, often involving complex legal dilemmas and interpretations. Addressing them through targeted training is essential to ensure fair and law-based decision-making.
Through this comprehensive consultation process, the Academy of Justice reaffirms its commitment to developing a training program that reflects the real needs of practice and supports the continuous professional development of judges and prosecutors.
