Understanding Domestic Violence in Civil Law: Protection Orders and Family Law Considerations

On 11–12 November 2025, the Academy of Justice, in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Project on the Approximation of Laws and Policies with the Istanbul Convention, as part of its Continuous Training Program is organizing the training on Understanding Domestic Violence in Civil Law: Protection Orders and Family Law Considerations.

The trainers for this program are: Mr. Faton Ademi, Judge at the Supreme Court; Mr. Fahret Vellija, Judge at the Basic Court in Prizren; and Ms. Ariana Qosaj Mustafa, Local Expert engaged by the Council of Europe.

The training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the legal framework regarding domestic violence in civil law, with a particular focus on protection orders and family law considerations.

The methodology will include a review of relevant legal and policy provisions, discussion of international principles and concepts, examination of recent research on domestic violence, and the development of practical skills through case studies and real-life examples.

Beneficiaries of the training are judges of Basic Courts and Victim Protection Officers.
