Protection of the rights of children without parental care in judicial proceedings

On September 23, 2026, the Academy of Justice is conducting a training session titled "Protection of the Rights of Children Without Parental Care in Judicial Proceedings" as part of its Continuous Training Program. The trainers engaged for this session are Mr. Valon Totaj, President of the Court of Appeals, and Mr. Bedri Bahtiri, a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Pristina. The aim of this training is to enhance participants' knowledge regarding the interpretation of legal provisions concerning the roles of the court and the guardianship authority in protecting children's rights within matrimonial and family disputes, as well as to cover international standards and legislation relevant to the protection of children's rights. A combination of instructional methods was employed during the training—including interactive discussions, case-based presentations, case analysis, and summaries of conclusions—to ensure the training's objectives were fully met. The beneficiaries of this training include judges from the basic court level, the guardianship authority (Social Welfare Centers), victim advocates, and free legal aid officers.
