Meetings for the training needs assessment for 2027 with the Court and the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica
June 19, 2026 - Following the meetings for the assessment of training needs for the drafting of the Training Program for 2027, the Executive Director of the Academy of Justice, together with the senior staff of the Training Program Department, held meetings with representatives of the Court and the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica.
The purpose of the meetings was to identify priorities and challenges that should be addressed through training activities that will be carried out during 2027.
During the meeting with the Head of the Serious Crimes Department, Mr. Fatos Sejdiaj, the challenges related to the organization and development of trainings were discussed, and priority areas for building the professional capacities of the judges of this court were identified.
Special emphasis was placed on the issues of unification of judicial practice in the criminal field, public procurement and ECHR decisions.
The meeting continued with the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, Mr. Nijazi Rexha, on which occasion the challenges faced by this prosecution were discussed, with emphasis on the small number of prosecutors. Topics related to cybercrime, public procurement, unification of judicial practice in the criminal field and whistleblower protection were identified as training priorities.
The Academy of Justice remains committed, through a comprehensive consultation process with the institutions of the justice system, to designing a training program that reflects the real needs of practice and contributes to the continuous enhancement of the professional capacities of judges and prosecutors.
