Human Rights and Effective Protection in Criminal Proceedings
On March 18, 2026, the Academy of Justice, within the framework of its Continuous Training Program and in cooperation with the Council of Europe – Support to the Constitutional Court in the Implementation and Dissemination of the Standards of the European Court of Human Rights, will conduct the training “Human Rights and Effective Protection in Criminal Proceedings.”
The training will be led by Mr. Burim Ademi, Judge of the Supreme Court and Mr. Skender Çoçaj, Judge of the Court of Appeal.
Purpose of this training is to analyze domestic judicial practice in relation to the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). It will include presentations and discussions of concrete ECtHR cases, focusing on the right to a fair trial, judicial impartiality, and the requirement of proceedings within a reasonable time.
Methodology of the program combines theoretical explanations with interactive discussions, enriched by the presentation of practical case studies.
Beneficiaries of the training is designed are judges from the Court of Appeal and basic courts, Prosecutors from the Prosecution Office of Appeal and basic prosecution offices, and Professional associates from both courts and prosecution offices.
