Unification of judicial practice in disputes over compensation for damage and statute of limitation

On June 16–17, 2026, the Academy of Justice, within the framework of its Continuous Training Program, is hosting the roundtable discussion on “Unification of Judicial Practice in Disputes on Compensation for Damage and Statute of Limitation.”

The panel will feature speakers Mr. Albert Zogaj – Judge at the Supreme Court, and Mr. Zenel Leku – Judge at the Supreme Court.

The purpose of this roundtable is to harmonize judicial practice and eliminate inconsistencies in decision-making, particularly in cases arising under the Law on Obligations (LOR). Key topics include, compensation for Damage, non-pecuniary damage and monetary compensation, categorization of claims under the LOR, legal basis for claims and criteria for determining compensation amounts, statute of limitation in obligations, calculation of limitation periods, rules on interruption and suspension of limitation, practical issues in applying limitation rules; The lost profit, assessment of achieved and future income, evidentiary standards and means of proof, judicial approaches to revising decisions related to lost profit.

The methodology will combine explanatory presentations, practical examples, and interactive discussions, ensuring active participation by all participants and achievement of the roundtable’s objectives.

Beneficiaries are judges of the Court of Appeal, judges of Basic Courts across Kosovo, and officials from Kosovo Customs.
