Domestic Violence: Effective Criminal Justice Response
On 19–20 May 2026, the Academy of Justice, within the Continuous Training Programme and in cooperation with the Council of Europe – Approximation of Laws and Policies with the Istanbul Convention, is conducting training on the topic “Domestic Violence: Effective Criminal Justice Response.”
The trainers are Ms. Shenaj Berisha, Prosecutor at the Special Prosecution Office, Mr. Sultan Dobraj, Judge at the Basic Court in Gjakova, Ms. Ariana Qosaj Mustafa, Local Consultant of the Council of Europe.
The aim of the Training Programme is to strengthen the capacities of judges, prosecutors, and other professionals for the effective handling of cases of violence against women (VAW), domestic violence (DV), and gender-based violence (GBV). The programme is aligned with local legislation, international standards, and the requirements of the Istanbul Convention, ensuring a victim-centred approach and accountability for perpetrators of violence.
The training methodology combines theoretical explanations with interactive discussions and the presentation of practical cases.
Beneficiaries include judges from the Court of Appeal and basic courts across all regions, prosecutors from basic prosecution offices in all regions, professional associates, and officials from the Kosovo Police Inspectorate.
