From November 20 to 22, 2012, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Justice, OPDAT program, within the Training Program for Promotion is conducted a three-day training on the topic: “Development of Trial Advocacy Skills”.
The main purpose of this training was to introduce and apply the most advanced techniques of trial advocacy, an innovation of the new Code of Criminal Procedure, which is expected to enter into force soon.
Issues that are involved in the training mainly are related to the examination techniques direct and cross examination, impeachment, examination of defendants, witnesses, experts, as well as techniques of the opening statement and closing argument, by the prosecutor or by the defense counsel.
During these workshops participants were made enabled to work in groups to demonstrate at trial advocacy skills, by working on a practical case and using the techniques presented by the local trainers specifically for this training.
The beneficiaries of this training were the newly appointed judges and prosecutors in Kosovo courts and prosecution offices.
