The visit of the delegation of judges and representatives from the Justice Academy of the Republic of Turkey to Kosovo Judicial Institute

 

From November 26 to 30, 2012, following the regular inter-institutional cooperation a study visit was conducted by judges and representatives of the Justice Academy of the Republic of Turkey to Kosovo Judicial Institute and justice institutions in our country.

Participants of this delegation were the managing staff and experts of the training center as well as judges/trainers in the Justice Academy of Turkey.
The purpose of this visit was to become familiar with the system and the case-law of Kosovo, the exchange of experiences related to legal education for judges and prosecutors, candidates for judges and prosecutors, as well as identifying opportunities for the organization of joint training programs in the future.

The delegation was received by the Director of the Kosovo Judicial Institute Mr. Lavdim Krasniqi who informed the delegation about the establishment, functions and organizational structure of KJI. Also a mutual presentation by the Turkish Academy was made on the topic “Juvenile justice system in Turkey and Kosovo”.  Also a meeting with was held with the candidates of three generations of the Initial Legal Education program who had previously held trainings at the Justice Academy of  in Turkey. 

During the visit, the delegation conducted meetings in justice institutions in the country such as: the Supreme Court of Kosovo, the State Prosecution Office, the Kosovo Judicial Council, Ministry of Justice, the District Court in Prizren, the Municipal Court in Ferizaj. During the meeting were addressed issues concerning the organization of courts, prosecution offices and various reforms in judicial and prosecutorial system in Kosovo that will happen in 2013.Also other visits were conducted to cultural heritage institutions in Kosovo.

Representatives from the Justice Academy of Turkey promised that they will support the realization of training programs especially for judges and prosecutors in 2013 with topics such as the Fight of Organized Crime, court and prosecution offices management as well training in the field of juvenile justice. 

The delegation at the end of the visit promised to continue the support and the deepening of the cooperation between the Kosovo Judicial Institute and Justice Academy of Turkey.
