On 16, 17, 18 and 22, 23, 24 October 2012, KJI in cooperation with RIPA International, supported by the British Embassy in Kosovo within the framework of the project "Strengthening the Anti-Corruption Policies and Kosovo's EU integration", conducted a training on the abovementioned topic. At the opening ceremony of the training on October 16, 2012, were present His Excellency, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Kosovo, Mr. Ian Cameron Cliff, president of the Supreme Court Mr. Fejzullah Hasani, and Mrs. Denise Smart, managing director of RIPA International.
As a result of this workshop participants will be able to:
• Interpret and apply properly the provisions of the legal framework against corruption
• Describe the elements of criminal acts of corruption,
• Interpret and apply properly the provisions of law and by-laws of public procurement,
• Become familiar with the role and powers of the competent institutions in the field of public procurement, as well as procurement and tendering procedures,
• Identify situations where there is a conflict with professional ethics.
During the training were discussed issues related to corruption and the perspective public confidence, human rights and law enforcement bodies, investigation strategies and tactics in relation to law enforcement officials. Also there were discussions on matters of ethics, which were associated with practical cases. It is worth mentioning also the knowledge of the participants in detail about the primary and secondary legislation regarding institutions and procedures of tendering and procurement, which aroused great interest among the participants to increase their knowledge in this area. Training was followed by case studies from practice, quizzes and group work and role-play.
The beneficiaries of this training were judges and prosecutors of all levels and regions of Kosovo, Kosovo Police officials and representatives of the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency.
